Broadband Light – Get Sciton BBL Treatments In Vancouver
Over time, our skin texture begins to change, and these changes can be exacerbated by overexposure to sun, an over-active lifestyle, or just by aging. Granted, in Vancouver, we might not get the most amount of sun in the country. But when it comes in the summer months, it’s bound to have an effect, year over year, over your lifetime. Furthermore, aging isn’t something you can control – but it is possible to mitigate the aesthetic effects of it.
We realise that sometimes these changes happen suddenly, and they are almost always unwelcomed. That’s why we at CüR Laser & Skin are introducing the Sciton Broadband Light treatment to help you restore the effects of time, so that you can go back to having fresher, more rejuvenated-looking skin.
What is a Broadband Light Treatment?
Broadband Light Treatment or BBL is an FDA-approved innovative light technology which is being used to treat skin conditions and irregularities caused by aging, active-lifestyles and sun damage. This light energy allows the practitioner to treat trouble areas and achieve desired results.
What Is The Sciton BBL?
Sciton BBL is the trademarked name for an Intense Pulse Light (IPL) machine, created by Sciton. It is far more powerful and controllable than previous generation IPL devices. The particular treatment we offer is called the Forever Young BBL.
How Does The Sciton BBL Work?
Pulsed infrared and visible light energy from a BBL treatment penetrate through the epidermis and dermis to heat up these upper layers of skin. The heat gets absorbed by the undesirable and targeted areas, eliminating much of the fine vessels, and unwanted melanin that are caused by sun damage. The heat then stimulates the production of new collagen—which is key to rejuvenating the skin.
A licensed practitioner can select from a variety of wavelengths and filters to treat a broad range of skin conditions. This makes it easy to customize based on each patient’s goals, skin type and requirements for downtime.
In the days following the procedure, the patient will notice immediate positive changes in skin texture and tightness as well as a blending of the skin’s natural tones, making it appear smoother and more youthful.
What Can Broadband Light Be Used For?
Almost any area of the body can be treated, but the most common areas are the face, neck, back of hands, shoulders and chest—or the areas commonly exposed to the most sunlight. BBL can treat a variety of skin conditions, including:
- Permanent Hair Reduction
- Pigment & Brown Discoloration
- Vascular Facial Redness
- Fine Blood vessels on face
- Spider Veins
- Sun Damage
- Hand Rejuvenation
- Pore Reduction
- Spot Treatment
Does The Sciton BBL Have Side Effects?
Depending on the intensity and area of your treatment, there are initial side effects that lessen after a few days and healing. After a BBL treatment, it’s possible that a patient can experience swelling, redness, oozing or peeling of the skin—the severity depending on the intensity of the treatment, part of the body treated and number of treatments
You will also be sensitive to ultraviolet light and should be careful to avoid exposure to direct sunlight until you are healed or for as long as your practitioner suggests is necessary.
After the initial post-treatment swelling has subsided, you will notice improvements in overall skin-tone and texture, increased glow and skin reflectivity and reduction of fine lines and pores—however results will ultimately depend on the condition of the skin, the area treated and the number of treatments you’ve had.
