The best, and most important preparation that can be done for CoolSculpting is achieving your goal weight, or close to it. Doing the initial work for fat loss is important, as the purpose of this procedure is to eliminate stubborn fat that seems impossible to lose.
This post will tell you exactly how you’ll need to prepare for your CoolSculpting treatment.
Are You A Good Candidate For CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is most effective for people with active lifestyles, and healthy diets. Unlike gastric bypass surgery Coolsculpting is not a weight loss solution. It is a non-surgical alternative to liposuction that works to kill 20-25% of fats cells in the area treated giving you a flat sculpted stomach, or smoothing bulging hips and thighs.
Prior to CoolSculpting Treatment Day
Because the suction of the applicator can be quite strong we recommend avoiding any anti-inflammatories, such as asprin, or advil one week prior to reduce the risk of bruising after the procedure. Bruising is common, and can be expected but usually only last a few days. Other than this there is virtually no downtime afterwards. Patients can get back to their daily activities immediately after treatment.
It is important not to change anything about your diet or routine before or after having the procedure. Maintaining you regular routine will allow you to see the full effects of the procedure.
On Your CoolSculpting Treatment Day
Depending on your personal treatment plan you can usually expect to be in treatment for a few hours at least. Once the applicator is applied to the body it is attached for one hour, and cannot be removed, so you’ll want to make sure you’re comfortable. Dress in loose fitting clothes that allow for adequate access to areas you are having treated.
You’ll want to have something to entertain yourself during the procedure. This can be a good time to catch up on some emails, good books, or binge watch a television series.
If you are unable to come in for multiple hours all at once, it is possible to space treatments out over a few days or weeks. However, we recommend keeping them as close together as possible because you’ll want to start seeing results at the same time.
Post-CoolSculpting – What To Expect
This is a non-invasive procedure meaning you can get right back to doing what you love immediately after treatment!
As mentioned earlier a little bruising, or “hickie” effect is common from the suction applied to the body. This can leave the area treated feeling a little tender to touch, so some might want to take a day or two off their ab workout.
During the procedure a gel pad is applied to the skin to protect it from the freezing, however, the area treated will have a numbing effect that can last a few days to a few weeks. This doesn’t usually prevent you from doing any activities, it’s more just an odd sensation. Gradually you will regain sensation in the area.
In some cases results can be seen as early as 2 or 3 weeks after the procedure. Over the weeks you will notice your clothes beginning to fit better, and you can see your body transforming! 8 weeks after the procedure is when full results can be seen.
